Is Vortex free?
Yes. Vortex is free to download and use.
Why does Windows warn me when I install it?
Early versions aren’t code-signed yet, so Windows SmartScreen shows a caution screen for apps it hasn’t seen before. Click More info, then Run anyway. Only do this with the installer from this site.
Is it built on Chrome?
Vortex is built on Chromium, the open-source engine behind Chrome, through Electron. Websites work the way you expect.
Does everything on the web work?
Most sites do. Sites that need protected-content playback (DRM), such as some streaming services, may not play yet.
Is there a Mac or Linux version?
Not yet. Vortex is Windows only for now.
What does Vortex do with my data?
Your bookmarks, history and settings stay on your computer. Vortex has no accounts and no analytics. Read the full privacy page.
Can I make my own themes?
Yes. Drop in any image, GIF or video and Vortex builds the theme for you. You can save it as a .vtheme file and send it to a friend.
